Frequently
Asked Questions
Will GutterFilter™ handle ice and snow?
GutterFilter™ is impervious
to winter. It drains and dries so quickly that snow and ice melt rapidly
due to the heat-absorbent color. If
it’s
warming enough to drip into the GutterFilter™, it’s warm enough
to drain. GutterFilter™ also helps to avoids ice dam back-ups by keeping
the gutters and downspouts clear and free flowing.
How much water can GutterFilter™ handle?
GutterFilter™ can handle the
highest water flow. GutterFilter™ is tested to handle in excess of 24” of rainfall per hour – more
than double the highest rainfall amount ever recorded. Unlike other
systems,
it even handles high-flow roof valleys.
How durable is GutterFilter™?
GutterFilter™ won’t bend, dent or crack like aluminum. Ice and snow,
falling tree limbs, or high winds can’t damage it.
Will GutterFilter™ affect my roof?
No. GutterFilter™ is preferred
by Roofing Contractors because there are no damaging nails or screws
to void roof warranties. It also allows
homeowner to re-shingle without removing or destroying their gutter
protection.
When it rains does the filter become so saturated that its weight
could possibly bring down or compromise the gutters themselves?
No! GutterFilter™ only retains
10 to15% of the water that passes through it, and only a short period
before it dries – it’s much too
porous to hold any water weight. When gutters sag or collapse, it’s
usually from the weight of water and debris trapped because of clogging.
What about the little pebbles that fall off the roof shingles
and where do they go? Do they get caught in the black stuff
or are the
holes big
enough for them to drain out?
Neither actually. “Shingle grit” is
too large to enter through the GutterFilter™ pores and just sits on top.
The grit is also extremely
porous and does not affect drainage or performance in any way.
How
does GutterFilter's™
BioCide work?
BioCide antimicrobial protection
is based on several active ingredients, including those found in many
popular consumer
and industrial
products such as antimicrobial cleaners and soaps, as
well as chef’s cutting
boards and children’s carpet- as a defense against dust mites. The
effectiveness and durability of BioCide antimicrobial additives have been
verified by extensive testing conducted at independent laboratories worldwide.
BioCide Built-In Protection has been incorporated into GutterFilter™’s
synthetic fibers, providing residual antimicrobial benefits engineered
to last the useful life of the product. BioCide technology is built-into
the molecular structure. Distinct from surface coatings and some additives,
BioCide will not wash out or wear off. It is not a temporary “treatment.”
Will the Installation of GutterFilter™ pay for itself?
Most homeowners are cleaning
their gutters 2 - 4 times per year and spending $50 to $100 dollars
each time.
That’s $1,000 to $4,000 over ten
years. Gutter cleaning can damage your roof and gutters,
but not cleaning them can cause serious damage to your home that probably
is not covered
by insurance.
Can I purchase GutterFilter™ and install it myself?
Yes! You can save by installing
it yourself. The GutterFilter™ manufacture “No
Clog Warranty” is in effect, but there would
be no money back guarantee.
